MESSAGE FROM PARYS:

IMAGINE…

life without bread… Seems pretty far-fetched eh?

Well for some, it’s a reality. Many people take food for granted, however there are many individuals and families that can’t even afford the basics.

My family have suffered trauma after trauma and as a result my mom was forced to give up her career and businesses, making it very difficult to afford the basics:  this caused my mom to sacrifice her dignity to stand in lines at food banks and climb into ditches to collect pop bottles.

My mom never gives up; she continues to dig us out of the hole that we were thrown into as a result of the domino affect of trauma.  However, the experiences changed us, we wanted to use what happened to us as way to reach others and make a difference.  We did a survey in low-income areas and identified that food staples like bread are complete luxuries. Sooo we came up with the idea of BreadHeads:  where we would partner with local bakeries and bring bread to low-income areas.  My favorite part was seeing faces light up with hope and kids screaming, “the Bread ladies are here”!

Sometimes the things we take for granted can be someone’s saving grace.
