‘Animal KARE’

Speaking up for those that can’t

WHAT IS ‘ANIMAL KARE’

An initiative where we help abused and neglected animals: we show them that humans can be kind in various ways and bring awareness to issues impacting animals, including wild animals.

WHEN:

All the time

WHEN AND WHERE:

The active part of this project has ended.

However K.A.R.E. Power remains involved in animal advocacy.  There are animals in need everywhere, YOU, too, can be involved:  where we, as a community prove to abused and neglected animals that humans can be trusted through the love and KARE they deserve:  and where you research and/or learn something new about animals, including those in the wild.

MESSAGE FROM PARYS

IMAGINE…

knowing that one of your family members are being abused.  What would you do? If you’re like me, you would do anything you could do to help them get out of that situation.

Would you do the same for an animal…a pet… a loving family member?

I know I would and soooo, Animal Kare was born:  animals are innocent they only want to give us love. I wanted to help be a voice for those who can’t communicate with us the same way as we do with each other.

My family takes in abused and neglected animals and they’ve given us more than what we could have ever given them:  EG:  we took in a “throw away dog” and now he not only gives us unconditional love (especially when we’re sad) but he’s become a protector and part of our natural therapy programs that has been instrumental in helping my brother and family on our road to recovery.

Adopt a pet, save a life…yours and theirs ♥

WHO CAN BE INVOLVED:

Anyone who has a passion for animals or just can’t stand to see an animal beingmistreated or hurt

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

1.  Volunteer:

  •       At the SPCA or other shelter

2.  REPORT abuse:

  •      Call SPCA, the Humane Society or the police if you see a dog locked in the car with no windows open – dog is panting

3.  Become a foster parent to an animal(s)

4.  Help wild life

  •  If you see an injured animal outside let the wild life shelters know or bring the animal to them.  Try to cover with a blanket or put in a box to help the animal stay calm
  •  Join an advocate group where they speak up for animals that others may be scared of to shed light on their importance, EG. Shark Truth

5.  Write a letter:

  • To the Justice Minister to ask him to make animal cruelty amendments part of the government’s “Tough on Crime” platform

6.  Open your home – Adopt:

  • Take in abused and neglected animals:
  •   My family has been taking in animals for as long as I can remember. It’s amazing to see the difference in the animal from when you first get it to when it is either ready to be adopted out or you choose to keep it.  We have even trained some for a natural therapy source in my brother’s recovery – Animals only want to love us

7.  Report suspicion of a puppy or kitten mill:

  • How to recognize a puppy or kitten mill:

a)    Loud and constant barking/yelping coming from buildings

b)   Animals are rarely brought outside for exercise

c)    Malnourished animals

d)   Females are constantly being bred for puppies or kittens

e)    Animals are kept in unsanitary cages often stacked on top of each other

f)     Stalls or cages are caked in excrement

g)    Minimal veterinary treatment

h)   Large number of dogs in one area

i)     Puppies of many different breeds
